It is Technology’s World and We Are Just Living in it

Greetings everybody! Welcome to this momentous occasion; our inaugural blog! You may be wondering – what treasure trove of information am I about to stumble upon? Or, who is this nut job blogging about technology? Or, aren’t there enough blogs out there discussing technology? All are apt questions. Yes, there are plenty of blogs discussing technology. Yes, I am a nut job. It goes with the territory of being a techie. And yes, you are about to stumble upon a treasure trove of information that we at Tech Rockstars, Inc., hope will help protect you, your data, and your network infrastructure.

There are indeed several blogs out there discussing technology in some form or other. Some are super technical; so much so, that the reading may be unappealing. On the opposite side of the spectrum, some blogs are super personal, to the point you can practically read someone’s life story. Our goal is to find a sweet spot; to reach out to the masses (or the one or two of you) in a congenial, yet approachable way that is not overly technical. Although we cannot help to tame the mysterious beast that is the internet of things, we can at least provide information that can help you be more conscious and aware of what the bad guys are up to. Information will be provided to help you stay alert and take on a proactive stance in protecting yourselves (addressing concerns or threats before they become issues), as opposed to a reactive stance (addressing issues after you have been impacted/compromised). We will be discussing issues related to the medical industry, business environment, the world of tech, common challenges that small and medium businesses face, as well as practical issues that home users often face.

Before blogging about anything technical, however, it would probably be wise to introduce myself and establish some sort of credibility. Otherwise, you could very well just be reading the ramblings of a lunatic. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in the field of Cybersecurity and Information Assurance. I have worked (or played) at Tech Rockstars, as a Jr. Security Analyst for the past 9 months, but have worked in the field of technology in some form or other for the past 14 years. I have worked in the tech department for a reputable hospital, for a private college, and as a helpdesk technician in small start-up companies among other gigs. These experiences have exposed me to different network environments and their respective needs. Particularly, to small businesses and home users, that may not have the finances to afford robust security mechanisms. When I am not working or studying, I enjoy researching advancing threats in the field of cyberwarfare.

I have learned a lot about the ever growing schism between technology and human behavior. Technology is always changing; it is an ever evolving nucleus. We, humans on the other hand are completely contradictory to that. We can be a stubborn lot, who appreciate comfort and stability. We are creatures of habit and do not adapt well to change; this is a concern. So my goal as a blogger, will be to find a happy medium where we can grow together and appreciate the need for us to better secure ourselves, our environment, and to promote the concept of protecting our data from the scoundrels out there who want to exploit it.

Stay tuned and keep rockin’!
